Public accountability is needed

Comments on Christian Kerr “Devil is in unexamined budget detail”, 20/05/2009, http://blogs.theaustralian.news.com.au/houserules/index.php/theaustralian/comments/devil_is_in_unexamined_budget_detail/

Why don't we introduce some accountability regarding this sort of situation. If any transcript are inaudible or partially inaudible, or missing important context or questions, then the media just make a call for whoever did those transcript to be sacked. If that has occurred to a person twice, then that person should be legally sacked from that position. Alternatively, why don't the media setup a website to name and shame whoever did those?

These things are so public and yet there seems there is little accountability. If people with those kinds of performance and outputs/services to the public can safely keep their jobs intact, what else is more unethical and low standards? Further, what is happening behind the scene? How the public is served for those things that are not so easily observable, keeping in mind that those transcript are for the media who are most sensitive?

Christian, please keep on exposing this kind of public disgrace displayed by our public figures or their close aids.
