Now the emergence of economic meltdown in Australia has clearly been long over, so it is high time for the government, starting with Julia Gillard the education minister to make changes to the BER programs, so most building projects can be more effective in terms of meeting real education needs and good value for money.
It should audit all projects and recall any rorts from rogue operators, and fine any officials in negligence of their duties to taxpayers.
The government will be deliberately irresponsible if it does not improve the BER program and projects. Any politicians should be and must be held accountable for their reckless negligence. Criminal investigations should be conducted to stubborn politicians abusing their positions and wasting taxpayers’ money.
The waste in the BER is likely to be billions. If such obvious and open rorts cannot be stopped, just imagine how much more taxpayers’ money will be wasted in future?
The public should act and force the government to act.
